Abstract: Since 1958, this has been a partial interchange, with tollway access only to and from points east. Project will add new ramps to provide full access and convert to DDI. Construction cost reflects bridge work necessitated by planned widening of tollway below.
Abstract: The I-71/75 & KY 338 Richwood Road Interchange Project is part of a comprehensive plan by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and Boone County to improve transportation service in the rapidly growing I-71/I-75 corridor.
The area surrounding the KY 338 (Richwood Road) interchange has experienced rapid development, leading to increased traffic on the local road network. Add to this the continued growth in traffic on I-75, one of the nation’s largest commercial routes, and you get traffic congestion and high accident rates. With this area expected to continue to grow over the next 20 years, so will the congestion and safety issues.
Abstract: Formerly, an at-grade intersection. The Thru-Turn strategy was used here to reroute lefts, making it cheaper to build the interchange, and with less disruption to traffic. Had good YouTube video, since removed.
